There is active volcano beneath the village though people are living. There are around 205 people living there. In 1780's volcano was erupted killing half of its population and it took them 50 years onward to return there. This island is around 432 m high from sea level.

The best time to visit this place is summer, Japan a cool wind from the sea blows through this area making it an island paradise. 

There is also primary school with 25 students and when they become 15 they moved to the school on mainland not knowing they will return back or not. They also had a song written in story of their depart from their land and loved ones.
